Choice Words Regarding Your SEM Strategy

In a recent column for Plastic Surgery Practice, Ceatus CEO Dr. David Evans seeks to dispel the confusion surrounding a lesser discussed aspect of search engine marketing (SEM): Paid advertisements.

The most common type of paid advertisement within search is a pay-per-click (PPC) ad. How does it work? You start by selecting a number of keywords that you want to be featured for (breast reduction fee, teeth implants, liposuction information, etc.). Your account will be charged each time one of your featured ads is clicked; the position of which is determined by auction. Essentially, you bid on what you want to pay per click. The higher your bid, the greater the likelihood you’ll be in the “catbird seat” on the results page. The higher your ad appears on the page, the greater the likelihood you will get a click.

Dr. Evan’s article, “Choice Words,” details in the ins and outs of keyword selection for PPC, breaking down the differences between broad and exact match keywords, and highlighting the importance of attention to detail; all the way down to choosing your letters. You can determine whether a PPC program could be a good complement to your SEO strategy, or whether your current campaign is doing more harm than good to your bottom line.
